Dental Insurance We Accept in Kansas City

Your smile shouldn't be limited by your coverage.

At Zona Rosa Dental, we work hard to make quality dental care accessible and affordable for Kansas City patients and their families.

We're In-Network With Your Plan

We are proud to be in-network providers for a wide range of PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) insurance plans. Being in-network means we've established agreed-upon rates with these carriers, which translates to lower out-of-pocket costs for you and your family.

We currently accept the following in-network insurance plans:

  • MetLife
  • Aetna | Aetna Medicare Premium Plus
  • Guardian
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) — Kansas City, Kansas, and out-of-state plans
  • United Healthcare | United Healthcare Dual Complete Medicare (UCARD)
  • Humana | Humana Medicare
  • GEHA (Government Employees Health Association)
  • Connection Dental
  • Sun Life
  • Ameritas
  • CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield
  • Union Plans
  • Principal
  • United Concordia

Don't see your plan listed? Give us a call — our list is always growing and our team is happy to verify your benefits.

Out-of-Network? We'll Still File For You.

Just because your plan isn't on our in-network list doesn't mean we can't help. We will gladly file claims on your behalf for out-of-network insurance plans, so you can still receive reimbursement directly from your carrier. Our team will work with you to maximize whatever benefits you're entitled to.

A Note on Plan Types

We accept all PPO plans. However, please note that we do not accept HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) plans. If you're unsure what type of plan you have, we recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card or reaching out to our office and we'll help you sort it out.

Let Us Help You Understand Your Benefits

Navigating dental insurance can be confusing, but you don't have to figure it out alone. Our knowledgeable front office team will verify your insurance benefits before your appointment, explain what your plan covers and what your estimated out-of-pocket costs will be, submit all claims on your behalf, and help you plan treatment around your annual maximums.

We believe financial uncertainty should never be a barrier to great dental care. That's why we take the time to walk through your coverage with you clearly and honestly, with no surprises.

No Insurance? No Problem.

Don’t have dental insurance? You still have options. Our Smile Advantage membership makes it easy to stay on top of your preventive care while enjoying savings on additional treatment. It’s a simple, budget-friendly way to prioritize your smile without traditional insurance. Ask our team or explore the plan to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Insurance

I have a PPO plan but I'm not sure which company it's through — can you still help me?

Absolutely! Just reach out before your appointment and our front office team will be happy to look up your benefits. All you need is your insurance card and we'll take it from there. We want to make sure you know exactly what's covered before you ever sit down in the chair.

I have United Healthcare through my employer, but my spouse has Humana through theirs. Can you see our whole family under both plans?

Yes, we work with both United Healthcare and Humana, so your entire family can be seen right here at Zona Rosa Dental without splitting up between offices. We'll file each claim with the appropriate carrier and help coordinate benefits if needed.

What exactly is a PPO plan, and how do I know if that's what I have?

A PPO, or Preferred Provider Organization, is the most common type of dental insurance plan. It gives you the flexibility to choose your own dentist, whether in-network or out, rather than being restricted to a specific list of providers. The easiest way to check is to look at your insurance card or call the member services number on the back. You can also contact our office and we'll help you verify.

My dentist retired and I'm looking for a new one. I have BCBS but I live outside of Kansas City — will my plan still work here?

Great news, we accept Blue Cross Blue Shield plans from Kansas City, Kansas, and out-of-state, so there's a good chance we're already in-network for you. Reach out to our team and we'll confirm your specific plan before your first visit.

I looked online and it says my plan is an HMO. Does that mean I can't be seen here?

Unfortunately, we are not able to accept HMO dental plans or dental discount plans at this time. HMO plans typically require you to see a dentist within a very specific network, which limits your flexibility. We'd recommend checking with your employer to see if a PPO option is available during open enrollment. If you'd like to be seen in the meantime, we're happy to discuss other financial options with you.

I don't have dental insurance at all. Is it even worth reaching out?

Of course it is! Not having insurance doesn't mean you can't receive great care here. We believe cost should never stand between you and a healthy smile.

We also offer our in-house Smile Advantage membership for patients without insurance. This program is designed to make routine care more affordable by covering your preventive visits and providing a 15% discount on most treatment needs. It’s a simple, transparent way to stay on top of your dental health without the limitations of traditional insurance.

Our team is always happy to walk you through your options and help you find a solution that works for your budget.

Will you let me know what my insurance will cover before I commit to a treatment plan?

Always. Before we begin any treatment, our team will verify your benefits and provide you with a clear breakdown of your estimated coverage and out-of-pocket costs. We believe in transparency and never want you to feel caught off guard by a bill. If anything changes with your claim after the fact, we will communicate with you every step of the way.

I have Medicare — does that cover dental care at your office?

We do accept several Medicare-related dental plans, including Aetna Medicare Premium Plus, United Healthcare Dual Complete Medicare (UCARD), and Humana Medicare. Traditional Medicare (Parts A and B), however, generally does not cover routine dental services. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, there's a good chance it includes dental benefits, and we can help verify your coverage.

I used to go to a dentist who never explained my insurance to me. Will it be like that here?

Not at all. Our front office team takes the time to walk through your coverage with you before treatment so you understand exactly what your plan covers, what your estimated share will be, and why. We file all claims on your behalf and are always available to answer questions about your bill. Honest, clear communication is something we take seriously at Zona Rosa Dental.
